Following our meeting in Glasgow, everybody agreed that development is an important issue. All countries have there own individual needs.

It was also agreed in Glasgow to inquire what other similar supra organisations do, such as Arab confederation and Mediterranean Association. In addition we will do a need analysis of our Commonwealth members. The contribution of all members will be welcomed.

Some countries will need support with their governance model and strategic plan. This is a VIK contribution that can be easily brought to the table by major nations.

Alan Beckford made a presentation of the actual development model in Jamaica.

Also, it could be interesting to inquire about Commonwealth Games Funding via the Commonwealth Game Associations (CGA).

PRESENT TASKS

Here’s a list of tasks we gave ourselves since Glasgow:

  • Finance/Resource : Larger federations may be persuaded to give Value in Kind (VIK); maybe secondments/internships to and from developing federations;
  • LL to evaluate finance/accounting modal based on Canadian practice – Done;
  • Seek CGA for possible funding;
  • LL to prepare a needs analysis of our members, check existing partnership;
  • SMS to work on a mind map, to be circulated to the group (first draft amended after Edmonton and done), and to communicate with First Ascent on their support for building the strategy (first steps done) and with JL to set up the meetings (first steps done).
